Let's go...
But first, let me take a selfie!
Since October I have been privileged to attend the Mount Zion Apostolic Church in Nottingham, pastored by Trevor Anderson.
I have been told that the building was a former cinema, so its structure really does not look like the typical church building.
Here's a quick run down of how church went this Sunday in particular.
When I went through the doors, I realized that we were having service inside the inner foyer. It's much warmer than in the main sanctuary. The prayer session was just about to end and we went straight into praise and worship. One of the main songs were "Sweet Holy Spirit". It ushered in the presence of the Lord and the other songs helped to set the atmosphere. The scripture reading was John 15. It was a bit cozy and tight, but we managed to greet each other anyway, doubling up on the smiles, hugs and kisses and the occasional handshake, singing the song "I am a friend of God". The usual manner of how we received offering also had to change but that did not stop the worship. We sung songs such as "I love to praise Him", and our pastor's wife Jacqueline Anderson, gave a rendition right before he preached. He delivered on the theme - I am chosen of God, followed by an altar call. In the usual manner, we were served coffee/tea after the service before heading home.
PS. - As much as I wanted to take pictures of the things I described above, I could not because (1) England has a strict policy on data protection (I really can't post pictures of people without their permission, and (2) I legit cannot take pictures during a church service - it feels so weird to me - especially during worship.
But thanks for coming along today. Have any idea of where I will be taking you next week?
See you then.
Cheers,
Davene.
